Sustainable brands team up to support businesses and artists hurt by COVID-19

A new initiative helps businesses to sell their products online, in exchange for donations to help clubs and artists affected by the crisis

Spotted: A Berlin initiative aims to help both local small companies and Berlin artists and arts organisations that have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The initiative, called Stay Home Club, offers delivery of sustainable products, and, for each order, will give 10 per cent of the amount to artists and clubs in the city.

A number of Berlin companies that sell fair trade or sustainable food products, such as SirPlus, Ostmost, Querfeld, Unicorn and Quartermaster have come together for the initiative. Many of the companies formerly relied on supplying the Berlin catering trade and have seen big decreases in their business with the closing of restaurants and clubs. At the same time, they did not have their own delivery services, making it difficult for them to transition to delivery only during the crisis.

The Stay at Home Club provides a delivery service through its online portal.  In return, participating companies are asked to contribute money from each sale to the Save Berlin’s Club Culture in Quarantine, an initiative which donates money to support clubs, employees and artists who are now out of work.

According to the Stay at Home Club: “In addition to the clubs, everyone else is in need, making Berlin the vibrant, free and colourful city that we love so much. From the corner pub to the small artists who have no income from yesterday to today. Solidarity is the order of the day if we want to enjoy the same diverse range after the crisis.”

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Springwise has seen a huge range of initiatives for helping businesses and people weather the economic storm by working together. Some innovative ideas we have seen include an initiative that donates holidays to health workers and a restaurant reservation platform that is helping people to book grocery shopping slots.
