The Endless Shower cuts the water use of a shower by reusing water, with real-time sterilisation

Spotted: For those who favour alternative living situations, industrial designer Aran Kalogroulis has developed the Endless Shower, which filters and sterilises 5.7 litres of water in a closed-loop. Many people crave the sense of freedom from being out in nature, however, are often discouraged by the lack of regular access to a decent shower. Kalogroulis’ creation gives people the opportunity to take long, high-pressure showers without depleting their finite water and energy supply.

The Endless Shower is a unit that can be installed into alternate living environments, such as vans, boats or cabins. The system uses and recycles the shower water by filtering and sterilising it with activated carbon and safe germicidal UV radiation. The activated carbon chemically absorbs pollutants and biomaterial, while the UV-C chamber sanitises the water. Where a 10-minute shower at home can use up to 150 litres of water, the Endless Shower uses 5.7 litres that runs in a closed-loop for as long as the user wants.

Kalogroulis generated interest in investment and distribution during user and expert evaluations of the product. With this, he intends to launch a startup to take the product to market. Alongside it, he plans to also develop a pared-down version that uses the core technology to create a low-cost sanitation solution, which will improve quality of life in areas that lack infrastructure.
